The benefits and types of wireless networks

Networks are a system built for the purpose of creating a connection between two or more devices, and connecting them by relying on one of the technologies of communication systems. This comes as a step to facilitate the exchange of information, resources and data between them, and it is possible to link more than one computer by means of print machines or specific application programs to allow sharing between computer users, and computer networks are generally classified into several classifications according to the method of connection. Such as wired and wireless networks, or geographic extension (WAN, LAN); Or depending on the technology used in it, and in this topic of our research we will talk about wireless networks and their benefits.

Wireless networks:

It is a type of computer network; They are used for the purposes of transmitting information and transferring it between nodes away from the use of any wires or connections, and this type is included under the remote control information transmission systems relying on electromagnetic waves. Like radio waves carrying an information signal. It can be defined as that network that arises as a result of connecting two computers with each other using a standard communication protocol, whether it is the Transmission Control Protocol or the Internet Protocol, and it is indicated that the credit for its development goes back to the US Department of Defense, which has been building global networks in the seventies of the last century .

Benefits of wireless networks:

  1.  Help to facilitate communication between users from anywhere; Whether by e-mail or specialized application programs.
  2.  Raising the levels of demand for electronic devices and modern technology, which will play an important role in electronic life in the near future.
  3.  Eliminate wired cables to connect computing devices with each other. The ability to encrypt and protect data during its transmission via the network by requesting authentication to identify the new user who is not authorized to access the network. Enable the user to access the Internet with ease and flexibility.

Types of wireless networks:

Personal Area Networks:

Where personal area networks are considered, and are referred to as PAN, and this type is used to communicate between a group of devices within a very narrow range in terms of area; The space is often so small that the individual can access all parts of the computer at the same time, such as using Bluetooth technology and ZigBee technology.

Local Area Networks:

Local area networks are considered, symbolized by an acronym LAN, and this type is more commonly used than any other type, and it provides the possibility of linking a group of devices to a distance that is relatively wider than the previous type. As a home, office or even a building, and its coverage can extend for a few kilometers.

 Large area networks:

It is considered large area networks referred to by the abbreviation as MAN, whose function is to link several LANs with each other to create a wireless network covering a medium-sized geographical area; As a campus or city.

How to set up a wireless network:

To set up a wireless network, the following is required:

  •  Ensure that there is a broadband Internet connection, an example of this connection is cable and digital subscriber line (DSL), and a person can obtain this type of connection through companies that provide Internet service (ISP).
  •  The presence of a wireless router (router), which is the device responsible for the process of exchanging information between the network in which the user is located, and the global Internet.
  •  The presence of the wireless network adapter, which is entrusted with the tasks of connecting a user's device to a wireless network. Adjust modem settings and connect to the Internet.
  • And the wireless router device is placed in a suitable location to capture the signal well. Secure the wireless network by changing the username and password that were originally on the device. Connect personal devices to the network.
